Building the Ethical Foundations on Clinical Interventions for Old People in Aging Society: From Biomedicalization to Care
Kim Jin-Kyong

Abstract
With biomedical treatments being the predominant form of care for elderly patients in clinical situations, the only way for family members to show their affection and care for elderly patients is to be involved in these patients¡¯ medical treatments. In aging societies especially, there is a need for reflection on the paradigm of geriatrics, not only for the benefit of elderly patients, but for everyone. In this article we focus on the importance of a type of care that reaches beyond standard medical treatments. We analyze the meaning of ¡®care¡¯ and consider different methods to achieve it alongside biomedical treatments.
